Dear India Mission Team Supporters,
Please begin your prayers for the
Willow Hills Baptist Church Mission Team embarking on their ministry to India December 27, 2009 through January 11, 2010.
This is Pastor Jesse Liles 8th trip to Southern India to work with the
International Mission Board, of the
Southern Baptist Convention. This year we have ten people on our eye care team.
Our ten person team will be working with indigenous Church Planters as we attract crowds through the use of refracting eyes and providing glasses.
Our Eye Care Team works with a team of national Pastors and lay people.
We not only give out free eye exams and glasses but also talk to every patient that comes through the clinic about the love of Jesus. Every patient is prayed for by a team from India churches. This is our fourth year doing eye exams. We have been told that this servanthood evangelism project has been very effective showing the people that Christians care for them. We are estimating that we will see over 5,000 people
during the ten days of eye care clinics.
Our total mission expenditures, excluding airfare is $18,000. A brief overview of our budget follows:
Medical supplies: $700; Translators: $300;
Eye Glass purchase: $14,000;
Aquaponic Project, including building a water barn: $3,000
What is aquaponics? It is the science of symbiotically raising fish and plants in an integrated system. The plants clean the fish’s water and the fish’s waste feeds the plants. This project is a part of a model farm we are developing in India, which will provide income for families and quality food.
